JOB TITLE: Director, Master of Arts in Psychology: Specialization in Military Psychology

Position Summary
The Adler School is a value-centered and growing institution that is seeking a Program Director to join the Department of Leadership and Public Service, Master of Arts in Psychology: Specialization in Military Psychology Program.
Applicants must have a doctoral degree or classified as ABD, as well as the following competencies, and experience:
- Qualification 1: Familiarity with the Armed Forces including military culture and systems
- Qualification 2: Experience in higher education administration
- Qualification 3: Experience teaching in higher education
- Qualification 4: Familiarity with online education and learning -familiarity with learning management systems like Moodle, eCollege, Blackboard, Angel or Desire2Learn is a plus
- Qualification 5: Experience in course development and maintenance
- Qualification 6: Experience in budget management
Must pass a pre-employment background check
Responsibilities of the Program Director include (1) recruitment and support, (2) education, learning, and conferences, and (3) management, departmental and faculty responsibilities:
Recruitment & Support
Collaborate with the marketing department to update promotional materials for the program and attend identified conferences. Assist in writing collateral material (website, ads, etc.), assist in advancing an admission process that allows for online learners, attend open houses and admissions days, review files of student applicants, interview applicants, recruiting off campus presentations. Provide academic advisement and mentorship to students selected for the program.
Recruit, interview, and recommend for hire adjunct faculty. Provide direction and administrative support to adjunct faculty involved in online courses.
Education, Learning, & Conferences
A particular commitment of the School, rooted in Adler's emphasis on social interest, is training students to work with marginalized and underserved populations and who are committed to social justice. Candidates with particular interest in this mission and with demonstrated experience in these areas are preferred.
Coordinate and assist with the development and design of military psychology online course content and resources, including course description and syllabi. Maintain and ensure best practices in online teaching (familiarity with Quality Matters in online teaching is a plus), as the web-advisor for each course. Here you’ll ensure that what was agreed to is represented in the live version of courses posted online, including graduate level content and integrity. Teach at least two (2) of the program courses (approximately 20%).
Attend professional conferences and disseminate relevant outcomes to faculty, students, and staff. Consider developing online capstone conferences for students to showcase their research products at the end of the program.
Management, Departmental & Faculty Responsibilities
Manage the program’s budget including material support, conferences, and staff support. Report to the department chair and attend departmental meetings. As a faculty administrator, you’ll attend faculty meetings, faculty council, and have committee membership responsibilities.
Workload
Your workload will consist of the following (subject to mutual negotiation as needs/demands change): 30% of your time will involve teaching; 30% managing/monitoring adjunct faculty and their courses; 20% recruiting both students and adjuncts; and 20% administration.
