    If you are writing your Masters Clinical Qualifying Exam (MCQE) in the Fall term, or would like more information to prepare you for a future exam, you are encouraged to attend one of the sessions. This session will be presented by Dr. Kathleen Irvine. The other is offered 9/30 afrom 6 to 7 p.m.

    If you attended an info session prior to September 2013, please attend again as some important changes to the MCQE policies and procedures have been made since then.

    RSVP is required. Please email Michelle Vezina and specify which session you would like to attend.

    This will be the first research meeting of the 2014-2015 academic year sponsored by the Association of Neuropsychology Students in Training (ANST). Learn about current and upcoming research projects relative to the field of Neuropsychology. We will also discuss upcoming conferences as well as information regarding our research database. First and second year students are strongly encouraged to participate so they have a chance to collaborate.

    Join us at this Open House to learn more about the Adler School Vancouver Campus, the Doctor in Psychology in Clinical Psychology (Psy. D.), the M.A. in Counselling Psychology (MAC), Master of Counselling Psychology (non-thesis MCP), Master of Counselling Psychology: Art Therapy (MCP:AT), and M.A. in Organizational Psychology (MAOP) programs.

    You will have the opportunity to speak with Adler School faculty, staff, and current students. During this session we will also be discussing admission requirements, program descriptions, finances, and answering any other questions you may have for us. Please plan to arrive on time as there will be a brief introduction by the Dean and a question and answer period starting at 1:00pm.

    During this two hour session lead instructor, Shirley Turcotte, RCC, will present a brief overview of Aboriginal Focusing-Oriented Therapy and an introduction to the Aboriginal Focusing – Oriented Therapy and Complex Trauma Certificate Program offered through the Justice Institute of British Columbia.

    This workshop presents an alternative approach to work with 'trauma', from a decolonizing anti-oppression stance, which focuses on the resistance of victims of violence and oppression, as opposed to attending primarily to the details of the trauma, which can be re-traumatizing for both the client and therapist. The workshop will include lecture and experiential work. This workshop is open to all Adler students, faculty, and alumni, as well as professional counsellors (presuming space is available). At the end of the workshop you will be issued a certificate of completion (this workshop is not for credit). The tuition for the two-day workshop is $410.

    The Adler School's Vancouver Campus Reunion 2014 will be on Oct. 30 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the Vancouver campus.

    Previously known as the New Grad and Alumni Wine and Cheese, the annual alumni reception featuring appetizers and cocktails will take place Thursday October 30th at the Vancouver campus. The Vancouver Alumni Association Leadership Board will also present its Adler School Outstanding Alumni Awardsf to Deb Bailey, M.A. '90.

    Unique Self Defense & Work/Street Safety training designed for busy staff and students. Women and men of all ages and physical ability are encouraged to join us in learning practical self-defence, escapes, attack prevention and more with two (female and male), multi-black belt, award winning, self-defence instructors. These two sessions are ideal for personal safety and a compliment to your career training. A take home Work/Street Safety guide will be provided to all attendees.

    The cost is $25 for both sessions, which is open to all Adler School student, faculty and staff. To register and pay email Stephanie Haslam, Manager of Student and Alumni Services, at by Oct. 29.

    The two day classes will be held Nov. 4 and Nov. 6 from noon to 1 p.m.

     

  • Vancouver Community Service Practicum Poster Presentation (+)

    Students will present posters regarding their Community Service Practicum (CSP) experiences, and talk how the CSP experience impacted them. This is a celebration of Adler students' contribution to the community. Please stop by throughout the event. There will be wine and appetizers.
