  • Adler International Learning Exchange: Concurrent Disorders: Barriers at the intersection of care and social context Session 1 (+)

    11:00 AM - 11:00 AM
    Vancouver Campus, Community Room

Please join us for an Annual Learning Exchange between the Adler School Chicago and Vancouver campuses. This is a three part series in which we will explore the barriers to care for those that experience concurrent disorders. Many individuals struggle with Mental Illness(es) and other social stressors such as homelessness, substance abuse, and other co-occurring health problems; which creates a diminished quality of life for affected individuals. This International Learning Exchange will allow us all to explore more about current treatment trends, social contexts that impact individuals living with concurrent disorders and to develop ideas about how to implement new strategies to reduce barriers to care.

    First Session:
Lori Rock, M.A. (RCC), will deliver a presentation on Concurrent Disorders and barriers to treatment live from the Vancouver Campus. She will provide insight into treatment trends as well as gaps in services. Both audiences will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the presentation. This presentation will broadcast to the Chicago campus.

    RSVP is requested.

  • Celebrating Women’s Empowerment (+)

    3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
    Chicago Campus, Community Hall

At the Adler School, we frequently discuss topics around social justice, empowering those who need our help, and envisioning a just future. Amidst the realm of social justice fall the inequalities between men and women, the outdated stereotypes that still dictate job choices for many women today and the tolerance by men and women alike.

Two of our students, Cori Schild and Caitlin Higgins, have worked to create an event that not only raises awareness of the struggles women face, but to build courage within those who act on their behalf.

The Adler School community is invited to a very special event to hear the stories of those who have overcome barriers and stereotypes, broken through glass ceilings to achieve their dreams, and of those who helped along the way.
